The Striped Shirt: Rocks Most Enduring Staple

Spring is finally coming around the corner, which means I have to switch out my summer and winter wardrobes, and that can be ... exhausting. However, the fun part is buying new pieces for spring, because while I love winter, I'm really tired of wearing boots and buying tights. The one thing on my spring shopping list is the perfect striped t-shirt. I know that sounds boring, but it's a great piece to have and as I was searching for reference photos and ways to style my new shirt (Yes, I do actually research pieces I want. I know it's really nerdy and I'm not proud.), I discovered that this classic piece seems to be a favorite among rock stars. For example:

Francois Hardy, the french singer, and leader of the 'ye-ye' movement in France, was also a style icon of the 1960s in her striped t-shirt.

Ringo Starr, the least famous of the Beatles, wears his striped tee while relaxing on tour.

Mick Jagger needs no introduction, but as you can see he is also a fan of the striped tee.

Intellectual Bad Boy (TM) Richard Farina and the equally talented younger sister of Joan Baez, Mimi Baez Farina, demonstrate that the striped tee is gender neutral and looks great on everyone.

Debbie Harry, lead singer of 80s New Wave band Blondie, wears hers with a floral skirt upon her arrival in Hollywoodland.

Madonna wore her striped t-shirt in her video for "Papa Don't Preach". And if Madonna says its cool, it's definitely cool.

Legendary frontman of Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, wore his striped shirt with ripped jeans to the VMAs.
