This Monday I finally turn 17! It's been a really long year and to be honest, I found being 16 to be highly overrated. In anticipation for the big day, I've created a short playlist of songs for all my fellow Libras turning 17 this month. These songs are perfect for your own private dance party or even as a caption for your birthday posts ( because if I see one more "Dancing Queen" by ABBA, I'll vomit). Without further ado, here are the songs!
1. I Saw Her Standing There - The Beatles
Birthday Lyric: "She was just 17, you know what I mean."
Why: Ok, so this song isn’t exactly an underground hit, but it’s a classic that still slaps today! It’s impossible to keep a straight face when Paul sings his signature “WHOO!”
2. Norgaard - The Vaccines
Birthday Lyric: “Her minds made up she don’t wanna go steady, only 17 so she’s probably not ready”
Why: We love rock songs about assertive women!
3. Seventeen - Peach Pit
Birthday Lyric: “There’s something dark hanging over my head, I’m seventeen, don’t hold your breath”
Why: This Canadian indie rock band does surf rock better than most Californians, and their song "Seventeen" perfectly captures the feeling of being young and overwhelmed by the future.
4. Edge of Seventeen- Stevie Nicks
Birthday Lyric: “On the edge of seventeen”
Why: Who better to sing a birthday song to us October babies than the coolest witch around, Stevie Nicks?
5. 1980s Horror Film - Wallows
Birthday Lyric: “She was only seventeen, oh why are girls in songs always seventeen?
Why: Wallows are asking the important questions in this song, with a dreamy bedroom pop sound.
I hope you all enjoy this small collection, and feel free to let me know if I missed one!
