The Ultimate Style Icon Turns 60

I know what you're wondering. Who is the ultimate style icon? Someone who inspires people to dress their own way, be the best person they can be, and live their dreams. Who better deserves that title than Barbie? Yes, she is just a toy created by a bunch of men at Mattel with pretty unrealistic body proportions, but Barbie has been a symbol of American girlhood for 60 years and continues to grow with us. Barbie's "I Can Be" collection opened girl's eyes to the idea that they could be astronauts, firefighters, and doctors. The Instagram account, @barbiestyle, proves that Barbie is not only alive and well, but is living her best life as a fashion blogger in Los Angeles. It's a testament to the timelessness of Barbie, that I wanted to be like her when I was five, and still do eleven years later. In honor of her 60th birthday, I'll be sharing why I still think Barbie is awesome. 

As a fashion blogger in LA, she gets invited to a lot of fashion shows.

Which is probably where she met one of her best friends, Gigi Hadid.

She even knows Zoolander and Ansel!!

And gets first dibs on designers like Rodarte, Jeremy Scott, and Oscar De la Renta newests collections. 

But she still loves a vintage moment.

Speaking of friends, she has a ton, and they love to explore the city together.

She's very cultured, so she goes to a whole bunch of museums and art galleries.

And she knows all the coolest coffee shops in town.

But she still loves to travel.

She’s a published author, in case you didn’t know.

She's not afraid to "stunt for the 'gram".

And she's a red carpet regular. 

In conclusion, @barbiestyle is my favorite Instagram page, because it is cute and girly and fun. It also reminds me of all the adventures I would create for my Alex Russo barbie, until my dog chewed her hands off. Happy 60th Birthday Barbie! Thanks for always being an inspiration and a friend!
