Charming, imaginative, and oh-so-French, Amelie is probably one of my favorite movies of all time. The story of a shy dreamer who resolves to perform anonymous good deeds and uses a photo booth to play a cat and mouse game with her soulmate really resonated with me the first time I saw it. Partly because the beautiful scenery and thought provoking characters, and partly because of Amelie’s timeless yet quirky wardrobe.
The iconic bob, feminine silhouettes, and chunky black shoes that make up her daily uniform are fun yet functional; Simple yet elegant. Amelie is this month’s (Not Just a) Style Icon because of the way she faces her insecurities and decides to live life to the fullest, with a kind heart and appreciation for simple pleasures. This week, as I copied her wardrobe, I was inspired by Amelie and was the hero of my own story.
Monday: Red Cardigan

I loved this outfit! I've had this skirt for at least two years and i haven't found a way to wear it until now. The red cardigan served as a pop of color for this simple all black outfit. It's the perfect outfit for those spring days where the weather is constantly changing. I felt chic but understated.
Tuesday: The Casual Pencil Skirt

Amelie loves to add her own feminine touch to everything, whether it's a touch of lace or a flowy skirt. This outfit is a prime example because of the scarf-like detail on the blouse and the knee length skirt. The Doc Martens help balance it out and keep the outfit from feeling to dressy. Plus they're super comfortable.
Wednesday: Going Incognito

This one was fun. My hair was too long to tie in the scarf like hers so I used this vintage scarf I got a an estate sale as a headband. These pants were also from the depths of my closet, but I will definitely be wearing them more often. The all black is perfect for doing anonymous good deeds.
Thursday: Clashing Prints

This might be my new uniform for spring. The bright colors, contrasting prints, and full skirt feel girly, youthful, and perfect for spring. I found myself twirling all day long!
Friday: Signature Red

Amelie's signature colors seem to be red and green, which is kind of an odd choice for someone doesn't want to stand out. This is one of my favorite dresses ever because of the flirty hemline and Parisian print.
Saturday: Dreamy Nightgown

I actually found this dress for two dollars at The Salvation Army, and while it's not a nightgown, it has almost the exact same print as Amelie’s, so I bought it. This was the only piece I had to buy, which is one of the reasons I love doing these articles; I’m always left with 6-7 brand new outfits!
