It's true when they say, "Always leave them wanting more.", at least in the case of IDKHow's speedy show at Jerry's Pizza and Pub last night. The duo known as I Don't Know How But They Found Me, stopped in Bakersfield for a lightening fast yet incredible show in the basement of the iconic pizza restaurant and music hall. In a set that lasted a little over 15 minutes, the band managed to impress the audience and leaving everyone craving to hear more.

KRAB 106.1 began advertising the acoustic show last month, promising free admission to one of today's hottest new alternative bands, but only to a few lucky contest winners. I entered online, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I had my mom and sister sign up too in order to increase our chances of winning. We found out we were on the guest list the day before the concert.

At Jerry's Pizza we arrived just in time to check in and take some pics for the gram, like one does, before the show started. The host announced the start of the show, and the crowd looked curiously at the stage, before realizing the band actually had to walk through the audience to get up there. In the middle of the crowded basement, lead singer Dallon Weekes began to stomp and sing the beginning of their song "No One Likes the Opening Band", while drummer Ryan Seaman set up the stage. It took quite a while to end the song, as Weekes paused to plug in his guitar and address the random phone that went off rather loudly, but all were impressed by his extended vocal range, which is especially showcased in that song.

With a set of only three songs, played on a single cajon and acoustic guitar, it is clear that IDKHow has an undeniable talent for performing and enchanting an audience. The crowd had just gotten into the music, bouncing along and singing the chorus to "Bleed Magic", when Leekes announced they had to leave to catch a flight out of Burbank. There was a collective groan, that seemed to melt away when the band began to play their 2018 hit "Choke". The show could have been longer, but it's better to leave the audience shouting encore, than to see people sneaking out the back one by one. Surprisingly, the shortness of the concert was one of the viewer's favorite parts with some remarking, "It's just like a little teaser, or a quick taste." I, for one enjoyed the quick glimpse of raw talent unplugged, and really appreciated getting home in time to finish my Spanish homework.
